Karaganda State Medical University is one of the most renowned public medical institutes located in Karaganda, Kazakhstan. On September 1, 1950, the Karaganda Medical Institute began operating and enrolled its first 127 students. KSMU became the only medical faculty with 11 departments and 23 lecturers, including three doctors and three candidates of science. The institute was later transformed in 1997 into Karaganda State Medical Academy, and the Karaganda Medical University began its postgraduate and residency programs in 1952.
KMU received university status in 2009, and in 2017, the KaragandaStateMedicalUniversity simulation center was awarded the ASPIRE award for "Excellence in Simulation-Based Healthcare Education" by the AMEE accreditation committee. In 2019, Karaganda Medical University gained the status of a research university. Since then, more than 33,000 highly qualified doctors have built successful careers in all regions of Kazakhstan and abroad. Over 8,000 students currently study at KaragandaStateMedicalUniversity, which is ranked among the top 50 universities in Kazakhstan. Indian students must qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test to entre a medical program and have fluency in the English language at the university is open for students from worldwide.
